Midland Lee 47, El Paso Montwood 7

MIDLAND, TX – Lee entered the 2011 season home opener on Friday night with a very focused look in their eyes. They expected a very formidable opponent in El Paso Montwood. It didn’t take long for both sidelines and fans in the stands to see what was about to unfold as the Rebels dominated the Rams to the tune of 47-7 at Grande Communications Stadium. Lee running back Jason McAfee wasn’t expecting to see very many touches in the first non-district game on the schedule. When starter Travis Williams was sidelined with a shin injury, McAfee seized the moment by scoring three touchdowns and rushing for 92 yards. Williams became the second Rebel to be sidelined on the night. Lee […]

Midland Lee 42, El Paso Coronado 3

EL PASO, TX – The long road trip to El Paso didn’t seem to bother Midland Lee as the Rebels rolled past El Paso Coronado, 42-3. Running backs Travis Williams and Jason McAfee punished the T-Bird defense in front of their home crowd. Williams tacked three touchdown runs on the scoreboard, and McAfee added another. Not only did did Darian Long add a touchdown, but was also productive as defensive back and punt returner. The Rebels achieved one of their objectives early by controlling the ball offensively and defensively. A heavy dose of Williams on the first three possessions resulted in Lee taking a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Coach James Morton seemed to open the floodgates on the […]

Midland Lee 27, Amarillo Tascosa 3

MIDLAND, TX – Even as Lee had their struggles with mental discipline, the Lee Rebels still managed to knock off the Amarillo Tascosa Rebels 27-3 on homecoming night in Grande Communications Stadium. It was a football Friday filled with plenty of mums, garters, and Rebels. Dustin Beal was recognized as the Homecoming King, and Eliza Marks was crowned as the 2011 Homecoming Queen during the halftime festivities. Special teams and defense ruled the night as both teams struggled to gather more than 200 yards of total offense each. Abilene Cooper 24, Midland Lee 14

ABILENE, TX – Lee had hoped to take the momentum from a non-district sweep into Friday night’s game with district rival Abilene Cooper.
